Hector "Happy Hec" Gauthier
Sr. Account Manager/Morning Drive Host

For over 43 years, "Happy Hec" Gauthier has been the voice of Fall River's favorite radio station, and the face of his community.
A veteran of 1480 WSAR since the 60's, Happy Hec has changed the sound of local radio in the Southcoast and has become as synonymous with Fall River as Emeril or Battleship Cove. During his career with WSAR, Hec has worn nearly every hat there is to wear in the business, including Program Director, General Manager, Chief Operator, V.P. General Manager, News Reporter, Production Director, Account Executive and Copy Writer.

But of course, what most people know Hec for is his trademark morning show, which he's been anchoring for 40 years.

Every morning at 5am, thousands of Southcoasters start their day off with Hec and company with a trademark style of morning talk unmatched in the region. News, interviews, weather, traffic and give-aways are just part of the package on Hec's "Bristol County Breakfast Club."

While he is famous for his work on the air (he has won numerous AP, MBA and Southeastern Massachusetts Advertising awards), Hec is even more recognized for his constant service with the community. A lifelong Fall River native, he's been named "Man of the Year" by the March of Dimes and "Friend of Education" by the Fall River Educational Association. In the year 2000, he was honored by the Massachusetts Broadcaster's Association with their most prestigious award: Radio Broadcaster of the Year. Also at the turn of the new millenium, Hec received an "Outstanding Community Service Recognition Award," presented by the Fall River Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Among his other roles in the community, Hec has served on the Board of Directors for the Fall River Chamber of Commerce, Samaritans and The Boy Scouts of America. He is also currently active with the Fall River Rotary Club.

With the radio business constantly changing and moving into a more digital age, so too is 1480 WSAR.

And nothing makes Hec happier!
