Tom Pasternak
Walsh Pharmacy
Thomas Pasternak, R.Ph., was born and raised in Fall River and has resided in Somerset for nearly 40 years. He is a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School and Massachusetts College of Pharmacy. A member of the Phi Delta Chi Fraternity, he received its President’s Award in his senior year. He created and has hosted “Ask the Pharmacist” since its inception in 2005.
He began his career in neighborhood pharmacies – Highland Drug in the Highlands and Walsh Pharmacy in the Flint. He established Walsh Pharmacy of Rock Street, Inc. in November of 1981 and in addition to the ribbon-cutting ceremonies of the day, he also had the store blessed by his parish pastor.
Tom was a member and former President of the South Eastern Massachusetts Pharmacy Association [SEMPA] and currently remains a member of the Massachusetts State Pharmacy Association [MSPA]. In September of 2005, Tom was honored by that state association with the Bowl of Hygeia Award, a nationally recognized award for community service.
Tom has been active in many boards and committees and is currently serving as Chairman of B.O.L.D [Building Our Lives Drug-Free]
Tom and his wife Pat have been active parishioners of St. Stanislaus Church for some 35 years now. Tom was the Chairman or Co-Chairman of the parish’s annual summer Polish Festival for at least 30 years. He could usually be found in the Polish Kitchen while his wife would be working in the Polish Heritage Room. Tom was also Parish Council President for 15 years. Both continue to serve as Eucharistic Ministers.
They have two adult children Michael of Somerset, and Lara of Swansea, of whom they are very proud. Loyal listeners of “Ask the Pharmacist” already know about their wonderful grandson Max.
