Patrick Stone

Patrick Stone
Production Director

Patrick Stone, or P-Stone as he is (sometimes, begrudgingly!) called has been a fixture at WSAR since September of 2006. Born and raised in the north end of Fall River, he graduated from BMC Durfee High School in 2004. While at Durfee, Patrick was the Opinion Editor for the Durfee Hilltopper newspaper where he wrote a controversial monthly column on the scandals and internal problems the school was facing at the time. "Sticks and Stones" recieved praise from several public officials including City Councilor Ray Hague and a former Fall River Superintendant of Schools who recognized the importance of student opinion in a time of turmoil at Durfee.

While in college, Patrick turned his attention to radio and eventually found himself at WSAR. Starting off as "The Voice of the WSAR Sports Report" in the hourly newscasts, he began his career at the station as an intern from Bristol Community College. Within weeks, the 20-year old turned the sports report into his own: fashioning an in-depth, often sarcastic and humorous take of the days sports at the end of the hourly newscast.

Following his graduation from BCC, he was hired as a part-time news anchor at WSAR and eventually became the lead news anchor during the majority of the 2007 Fall River Mayoral Campaign. As part of his duties as news anchor, Patrick also played co-host to the popular Friday staples "College of Useless Knowledge" and "Under the Bus."

Patrick, now 23, is now the Production Director at 1480 WSAR, which meant a move from the news department. He picked up his belongings (a Guster poster and a Three Stooges sign) and moved two doors over to the production studio. In his words, "Nothing humors me more than being creative. Whether it's in written word or on the air, it's very freeing to be allowed to just 'go nuts' behind the sound board whenever I have an idea. News is a great gig, but the production side is a new opportunity for me to be creative with commercials and promos, as well as focus my attention all the new media we are utilizing at WSAR. This is a fantastic learning process, but also the most fun I've had in radio since I started."

Patrick is the board operator for "The Keys to Your Wallet" on Wednesdays and the Friday afternoon staple "Ask Your Pharmacist." His brain is also home to a country's worth of useless pop culture trivia, "Big Lebowksi," "Frisky Dingo" and "Futurama" quotes, as well as every word to every "Simpsons" episode ever.

And, of course, he's also in charge of designing and maintaining the brand new WSAR.com.
