The Public Safety Committee Meeting

The Fall River City Council's Committee on Public Safety meets on Tuesday with a discussion on the Kilburn Street Mill, which was inspected by the Massachusetts EPA earlier this winter.

The session begins at 5:30 in the Second Floor Council Chambers in Fall River's Government Center.

The mill was a former cotton mill when it was finished in the 1870s, when Fall River was on its way to becoming a major center for textiles.

Neighbors have expressed concern that the structure is a major fire hazard; public safety administrators have tried to keep an eye on the building while discussions continue on what to do with the property, and how to protect portions of it that have historic significance.
