A new law in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that will allow retail establishments to do away with individual pricing stickers on every item in their stores will go into effect on the first day of 2013 next week; Retailers will be able to offer electronic scanners, as Wal Mart and Target do now, to allow consumers to check the price of items they want. The legislation had been discussed for several years on Beacon Hill before Governor Patrick signed it into law last summer.
